There are a few nice and clean beaches nearby, ready to welcome you for swimming any time of the year. The closest are Agio Onoufri, just 2 minutes drive from the hotel and Kalathas. Others are in Tersanas, Stavros (famous from the movie "Zorbas the Greek") and Marathi.
Some beautiful monasteries are to visit like Agia Triada, Gouverneto and Katholiko. The archeological sites of Akrotiri are of real interest to all tourists to visit.
Or you can enjoy the charming old town of Chania, only 10 minutes drive, with the Venetian harbor.
